Where Does Your Baggage Go While You’re Flying?

Hi everyone, it's Anastasia. In today's video, I want to show you where does the baggage go while you flying on the plane. I was able to capture some of the steps of luggage processing while traveling to Mexico this year.

So after you checked your bag through the kiosk or in person, you still may have a personal item, which is free for Spirit Airlines that I travel with, and you can have a carry-on with you.

All the checked bags are going to go to the cargo compartment of the plane right underneath the cabin. I was able to see the loading process through the windows in the airport, and they do it with the belt and the person inside, I guess, just ordering the bags so they lay down nice and neat.

What Happens After Landing

After the arrival to your destination, the airport crew are going to unload all the luggage from the cargo compartment. I was lucky to get the seat right by the window, and I was able to see the whole unloading process while the baggage is unloading, passengers are patiently waiting inside the plane.

After you finally leave the airplane, you're going to go to the bag claim section of the airport, and you're going to need to find the right carousel. Usually, the plane cabin crew are going to tell the right number of the carousel that you're going to head to to pick up your luggage.

Then you're basically just going to watch the belt and look for your bag. Be careful and try not to confuse your bag with someone else's bag, because you're going to see people picking up luggage that looks exactly like yours — which is actually not.

I put some bag charms on mine so I can easily identify it.

During Connecting or International Flights

You might check your bag and pick it up several times during your flight, especially if you have some layovers or international flights. So the bag claim section of the airport can look different.

That's pretty much it! If you like the video, subscribe for more, and thanks for watching.
